Temple HS Band Advances to UIL Area Marching Contest

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple High School marching band has earned the right to advance to the Area round of the University Interscholastic League Marching Competition. The THS band advanced after a strong performance at the UIL Region 8 marching contest on October 15th.

The Temple High School band received a Superior or first division rating at the Region 8 Contest at Midway High School’s Panther Stadium in Hewitt on Saturday. That rating qualifies the band to advance to the Area Marching Contest as one of four 6A bands to advance from the region competition. The UIL Area D Marching Band Contest will be held on Saturday, October 29th at the Northeast ISD’s Heroes Stadium in San Antonio. The Temple High School band will be one of 24 bands competing in the area contest and are scheduled to perform at 4:45 p.m. Bands advancing from the Area Contest will move on to the State Marching Contest in November.

“The kids have been working hard on preparing for this contest ever since we started in July,” said Brent Mathesen, director of bands for Temple High School. “We are glad to see that hard work pay off with a superior rating and a chance to continue our marching season at the area competition.”
