TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple High School Theatre Arts program will present one of its most ambitious works with a four-day run of the play “Metamorphoses” this week. Shows will run Thursday through Sunday in the Temple High School Auditorium.
Temple High School’s performance of the Mary Zimmerman penned play features a 20-foot by 20-foot, 2,000-gallon swimming pool that was constructed by the theatre arts department. The entire play is set in the pool or on the wooden deck that surrounds the pool. “Metamorphoses” is a retelling of Greek mythology and features characters based on figures familiar to audiences from common myths and legends. The audience will be seated on-stage surrounding the pool to create a unique viewing experience for attendees, with some of those seats located in the “splash zone.” Seating will be limited to 200 people per performance based on the seating arrangement. There is a 53-person cast and crew participating the staging of Temple’s production of “Metamorphoses.”
Performances will be at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday, Friday, and Saturday (October 12-14). Sunday’s performance will be at 2:30 p.m. on October 15th. Tickets are $20 and may be purchased at centraltexastickets.com.
