Ten Temple High School Seniors Recognized During Fine Arts Signing Day Ceremony

TEMPLE, Texas — Ten Temple High School Fine Arts students will be continuing their education in fine arts related fields of study when they move on to college next year. The Temple High School Fine Arts Department recognized those seniors during the program’s annual “Signing Day” celebration on Monday (May 20). The celebration honors students who will be going on to college to major or minor in fine arts related fields of study.

The students honored during the ceremony represent four of the six fine arts programs sponsored by Temple High School. Two of the students will be attending Texas State University next year. Gray Baker will be majoring in jazz studies – bass performance, and Jayden Maiani intends to major in dance and musical theatre. Daniel Barros will attend Cedarville University and double major in computer science and band. Joshua Cole is planning to attend Tarleton State University and major in music performance (trombone). Makale Edwards will be going to Huston-Tillotson University as a double major in accounting and music performance. Sydney Fisher will be attending Angelo State University and majoring in theatre education. Rohan Mantey will be attending Temple College as a musical theatre major. Trinity Robinson plans to major in voice performance at Texas Christian University. J’Leice Suarez intends to major in music education at Texas A&M-Commerce. Aiden Wozniak is planning to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts in studio art at the University of Texas at Austin.

“We are very proud to have been part of the fine arts journey for these students,” said Catrina Lotspeich, director of fine arts for Temple ISD. “Our fine arts teachers have seen them work hard and grow and thrive as musicians, dancers, artists, and actors. That hard work has been well recognized by the universities as these ten students have been awarded more than $100,000 in scholarships. We look forward to sending them off as they continue their journey and become leaders in the next generation of artists and educators.”

Each of the students was recognized individually as staff highlighted the school they will be attending and their planned field of study. The seniors also had a chance to reflect on the opportunity the Temple High School Fine Arts programs gave them to make Monday’s celebration possible. Following the ceremony, the department hosted a reception for the students and their families. The TISD Fine Arts Department began hosting a “Signing Day” celebration in 2019.
