Temple HS Theatre Arts to Open 2024-2025 Season with "Anything Goes"

TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple High School Theatre Arts program will open the 2024-2025 season with a three-day run of the classic musical “Anything Goes” starting next week.

“Anything Goes” features a classic score by Cole Porter featuring numbers such as: I Get A Kick Out of You, You’re the Top, and the show-stopping Anything Goes. The musical is set aboard the S.S. American. When the ship heads out to sea, etiquette and convention head out the portholes as two unlikely pairs set off on the course to true love – proving that sometimes destiny needs a little help from a crew of singing sailors, a comical disguise, and some good old-fashioned blackmail. The music has been revived multiple times and has been filmed three times. The enduring work has long been a popular choice for school and community productions.

Temple High School’s ambitious staging includes a stage-sized recreation of the S.S. American. A live orchestra will also perform with the actors during the show from the top deck of the ocean liner set.

“I am so excited to bring this production of Anything Goes to the Temple community,” said Kayla Stewart, director of theatre arts for Temple High School. “We are starting our 24-25 season with this fun and challenging musical that is great for all ages. Although this production takes place in 1930, it has not lost its appeal to modern audiences. Our audience can expect fast paced comedy, incredible dance numbers, and a lot of laughter. The cast and crew have worked tirelessly to bring this ship to life, and we hope the community will join us.”

The show will be performed on Thursday, October 17th, Saturday, October 19th, and Sunday, October 20th. Thursday’s performance is at 7:00 p.m. There will be 2:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m. shows on Saturday and the run closes with a 2:00 p.m. performance on Sunday. Tickets start at $20 and may be purchased at CentralTexasTickets.com.
