TEMPLE, Texas — The Temple Independent School District Career and Technical Education Department will host its fifth annual Christmas Creations event on Tuesday, December 10th, in the CTE wing of Temple High School (415 N. 31st Street, Temple, Texas 76504).
The annual event serves as a community showcase for the CTE department as students will have the opportunity to demonstrate their knowledge and skills through fun holiday activities for all ages. This year’s Christmas Creations will have a little different feel than previous events, according to Temple ISD Director of CTE Sara Bartlett. Bartlett says this year’s event will be an opportunity to reeducate students, families, and the community, on the importance of career driven learning. The event will feature different career pathways hosting age-appropriate activities designed to create lasting memories. Examples include cookie decorating in culinary arts, holiday coloring books for children created by graphic design students, and tic-tac-toe boards printed on 3-D printers by manufacturing students for visitors to play on and purchase. Automotive students will have toy-like engines on display, there will be holiday flowers, Christmas photo opportunities for families, wooden Christmas trees to decorate, and even an escape room. The state qualifying Wildcat Workforce robotics team will be on hand with its robot for families to experience and there will also be drone exploration opportunities. The CTE department will still be maintaining its online market featuring everything from hand-made cutting boards to sugar cookie kits to gift cards, with gifts ready in time for Christmas, but Bartlett says this year’s event is focused less on selling projects and more on education and experiences for the whole family.
“We are wanting this to be a low-cost family engagement event with lots of great experiences and opportunities to teach students and the community about Career and Technical Education,” Bartlett explained. “We look forward to seeing everyone at our CTE family experience. Christmas Creations is an annual event with a new twist. Join the fun for free and low-cost activities that spark student imagination.”
Christmas Creations will run from 5:00-7:00 p.m. on December 10th. Attendees are encouraged to enter the event through door #23 in the back of the high school. More information on the CTE online market can be found on the department’s website at wildcatworkforce.com.
