The Air Force Junior ROTC instructors and cadets of Temple High School earned an overall unit assessment score of “Exceeds Standards”, the highest rating attainable, during their rated unit evaluation on September 29th, 2015.
Colonel William Pailes, Senior Master Sergeant Tony Carter and Master Sergeant Forest Henderson have created a dynamic and supportive learning environment, coupled with excellent community outreach.
Just over a month into the new school year, many of the more than 275 cadets are already participating in school and community events. This started the very first week of school. The Push-Up Squad has gone to all of the Wildcats’ five football games, the Color Guard has presented the Colors at three home games and at a community prayer service, and over 30 cadets helped serve meals to World War II veterans at the Temple Chamber of Commerce Annual Military Appreciation Luncheon.
While serving their school and community, at the beginning of the school year cadets are also selected and trained for staff positions, uniforms have been issued or re-fitted, and, in accordance with Air Force requirements, goals and activities for the year have been planned.
The efforts of the cadets in the top Corps leadership positions have a lot to do with getting the year started and successfully accomplishing these tasks and activities, and an excellent staff has been assembled for this semester.
In the three highest command positions are: Cadet/Colonel Gisela Nunez, the Corps Commander, the highest position in the program; Cadet/Lieutenant Colonel Alex Cortez, the Operations Squadron Commander; and Cadet/Lieutenant Colonel Priscilla Guillen, the Support Squadron Commander.
The cadets in the highest staff positions are: Cadet/Captain Mira Molina, the Logistics Officer; Cadet/Lieutenant Colonel Lesed Delarosa-Pippins, the Director of Personnel; Cadet/Major Jacob Marchant, the Inspector General Commander; and Cadet/Major Kalisha Brown, the Public Affairs Officer.
The Commander of the unit’s Push-Up Squad, Cadet/Master Sergeant Jeremy Boothby, has led this team’s participation in Wildcat football games.
It is the quality and excellent work of these cadet leaders, as well as the entire corps of cadets, that lead the squad to earn the “Exceeds Standards” rating on the recent formal Air Force inspection.
This is the highest rating a Junior ROTC unit can earn.
The Temple High School cadets performed exceptionally well and took great pride in establishing their unit goals for the school year.
The instructors have provided outstanding leadership in administering this cadet-centered citizenship program.
The cadets are excited about this new school year, and Temple High School and the Temple community can be proud of our Junior ROTC program.
