Letter to the Editor: THS student leader grateful for bond support

From the Temple Daily Telegram, 12/8/15:

On behalf of the Temple High School student body, we would like to thank the community for their unconditional support shown through the recent bond passing. The bond, including improvements to our fine arts center, a new swim center and a new career and technical education center, will improve our overall learning environment. In addition, improvements made to our elementary and middle schools are sure to be reflected in future Wildcats.

As a graduating senior, it’s bittersweet because when I return in the future, the halls I walked though as a freshman may not be there anymore. However, I am overcome with pride in the fact generations of Wildcats will be able to make lasting memories in an environment that will prepare them for their future.

Temple ISD already made improvements to change the architectural face of many schools, and we want to assure the community we will match the effort shown on our end. On behalf of the student body, and of future students, I promise we will continue to make the community proud and maintain the standard of excellence associated with being a Temple Wildcat. I’ve spent countless hours on the Temple High campus during freezing winters and warm springs. I have been challenged and tested, and I celebrated with my classmates. In the end, I know I would not be who I am today without experiences I gained in Temple, and without the support of our voters.

To the City of Temple: Thank you so much for believing in the students of our city and for your help in improving our quality of education and our future.
