Resignation of Athletic Director/Head Football Coach Mike Spradlin

Athletic Director and Head Football Coach Mike Spradlin has announced his resignation from Temple ISD.  He has accepted the position of Athletic Director with Magnolia ISD.  His last day with Temple ISD will be January 29th.

 From Superintendent Dr. Robin Battershell:

Coach Spradlin absolutely did what he said that he would do when he came to

Temple and I am very thankful for his leadership.  The position he is accepting is in line with where Coach Spradlin is in his career and in his life.  We wish him the very best.

Steve Prentiss will be the Interim Athletic Director.

The position will be posted for a minimum of 10 business days beginning
on Thursday, January 14, 2016, 2:00 PM.  We will evaluate the applicant pool at the               end of the 10 days to determine suitability of the candidates and may extend the
deadline.  A committee will meet to evaluate the paper applications, narrowing the
field to a group of Level 1 applicants.  As in the past, the committee will be comprised
of a diverse group of District staff, parents, and community members. The committee
will bring 3-5 finalists to the Superintendent for review.  We hope to complete the
            process within 30-45 days.

From Coach Mike Spradlin:

I want to announce that I have taken an administrative position as Athletic Director for             the Magnolia Independent School District. This means that I will be stepping out of                   coaching, and moving into an administrative position only.

Temple HS is the best coaching/AD position in the state of Texas. I have no desire to               coach anywhere else, however the opportunity this position provides is one that is a
natural transition at this point in my career, and for my family.

First of all, I would like to thank all the players that committed themselves to Wildcat Football. You guys were awesome. Your can do attitude has revived this program, this school and this town. I love you, and I love the way you fought for each other and for our football family. You are special, unlike any guys I have ever coached, and I mean that.

I also want to thank every coach that has worked on our athletic staff in Temple. Your
commitment is unparalleled. I want to thank our faculty for all you do to make sure
that our kids get treated fairly, and get treated right.

Last I want to thank all of our administration, in particular Dr. Battershell, for the
support that I received every step of the way.  It is the best job I have ever had, and it
is with great sadness that I step off the sideline at Wildcat Stadium. She has
outstanding vision, and I want to encourage everyone to trust her, and the process,
because the process works. I have been blessed beyond belief to have had the
opportunity to work with these great people.

Thanks Temple. It has been an awesome ride.

Stay Wildcat Strong, and go Win the Day!
