Seven THS Students State Finalists in Theatrical Design.

Seven Temple students were named State Finalists in the 2016 UIL Theatrical Design Contest. Their entries will be displayed at Bass Auditorium in Austin May 23-25. This year's designs were based on Shakespeare's MacBeth, but had to be set in a different historical location and/or time period than the original play.

Temple's group entry included Zach Elliot, set design; Abryanna Ingram, costumes; Callie Ortega, hair and make-up; and Emma Tolleson, marketing. The team will be competing against 10 other 5A and 6A high schools.

Individual entry finalists were Chantal Cyrus, costumes (1 of 25 finalists); Jonathan Nabours, marketing (1 of 12 finalists); and Bailee Poelker, hair and make-up (1 of 9 finalists).

Last year, Temple's entries won 3rd place in group, 2nd place in individual set design, and 4th place in individual marketing. This year's UIL contest had 658 total entries. Temple competes in Division 2, which includes 5A and 6A schools. The group team won the State Championship in 2008 (first year of the contest, won against 1A-5A schools) and in 2014 (Division 2).
