The Temple ISD School Board awarded Ralph Wilson Youth Club Executive Director Mr. Charlie Kimmey with a Friends of Temple ISD "Wildcat Award" at their meeting on Monday, July 11.
Mr. Kimmey was recognized for his efforts at Ralph Wilson Youth Club in not only partnering with Temple ISD to provide a special place for students during the school day, but also providing a safe and enriching environment where students can learn and grow after school, along with his selfless work volunteering in Temple ISD schools.
In presenting the award, Board President Steve Wright said:
Charlie has been a selfless leader in our community and specifically for the Ralph Wilson Youth Club for many years. His passion and commitment for kids exemplifies the Club’s motto, “We’re here for your kids!” and reinforces the Temple I.S.D.’s motto “All kids can learn.”
As we look around our School District, signs of Charlie’s hand are everywhere … seeing his picture on the Temple ISD website reading to Jefferson Elementary students, cooking hamburgers for Raye-Allen staff, staunchly supporting the recent bond elections and Tax Ratification Election, playing games with students in after-school programs and last but not least having the vision to co-locate with the Travis Science Academy in the middle of Temple to better serve kids.
For Charlie, and for Dr. Kathy Kimmey, it is not a job, it is a passion. You never see Charlie sad or mad. He is always upbeat!
As Mewlana Rumi said, "Passion is the elixir that renews. How can there be weariness when passion is present? Oh don’t sigh heavily with weariness. Seek passion, seek passion, seek passion!"
May we use Charlie as an example to all, seek passion, seek passion, seek passion. Thank you Charlie for being you!
The Friends of Temple Wildcat Award allows the District to formally recognize high-level partners and individuals for their contributions to Temple ISD.
