In front of the rows of long tables in the Lamar Middle School Cafeteria on Thursday, November 10, stood an unusual site as students filed in for lunch.
A solitary table, draped by a white table cloth, containing two plates, a lemon wedge and salt, silverware, a inverted glass, a candle, a rose, and a small Bible.
This is The White Table, set in remembrance of POW/MIAs. Read about the meaning of each item on The White Table, here.
Soldiers from the 62nd Battalion on Fort Hood, Lamar's Adopt-a-Unit, explained the meaning of the White Table to students at all three lunches, and stayed to eat as well.
In conjunction with The White Table and Veterans Day, Lamar started a “Wall of Honor” for staff, their families and student's family members who have served in the military.
