Temple swim coach Trey Sullivan let out a hardy chuckle at the thought of his pupils’ personalities. Perhaps he knew how they would describe themselves.
“This team, we are very crazy,” junior Lexy Cook said.
Crazy cool, crazy goofy or maybe crazy to get up at 5 a.m. and be in cold water before most of their peers have changed out of their pajamas, Cook didn’t specify. But more pertinent, really, is how that “crazy” has worked toward what’s brought Temple to this point in the season with its share of success.
“Crazy, but one ginormous family. We push each other to be the best, trust each other and we are there for each other,” Cook added.
With the exception of two swimmers battling injuries, Temple’s entire, small yet determined team is in College Station today and Saturday for the Class 5A Region V meet at Texas A&M’s Student Rec Center, where it will put a season’s worth of work to the test with the hopes of qualifying for the UIL State Championships.
