For Principal Kristina Carter, it was an especially great day to be a Mustang on Friday, May 26.
Carter was informed the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals (TASSP) selected her as their 2017-2018 Region 12 Middle School Principal of the Year!
She will now represent Region 12 in this position over the next school year.
About the recognition, Mrs. Carter said:
The recognition comes in response to the results of the dedicated and focused work of Travis staff and students. This would not be possible without the support of our parents, district level leadership, Temple ISD Board of Trustees and our partner, Baylor Scott & White Health.
Together, we make it our goal to strive for excellence. As a result of this support, Travis students have experienced a great deal of successes. A few of their achievements include: State level competition in both Robotics and Math Counts, three consecutive years earning multiple Distinction Designations under the State Accountability system and becoming an Authorized IB World School.
This is an honor for the students and staff of Travis Science Academy. We are proud to be recognized as one of the top middle schools in this region.
This is an especially great time to be a Mustang!
Mrs. Carter has served as principal of Travis Science Academy since July, 2014. In that time she’s overseen the implementation of the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years Programme, leading to full IB accreditation for the campus in the 2015-2016 school year.
TASSP will announce the statewide Outstanding Middle School Principal of the Year winner at their conference in June 2018.
