Wildcat mentor program celebrates success

1/19/18

Temple kids bowled, played laser tag and bonded Thursday with their mentors at the annual Wildcat Mentor Back to School Bash.

The Wildcat Mentor program pairs fifth- and sixth-grade Temple Independent School District students with volunteers who pledge to visit with them twice a month to talk about school, the future and life in general.

Thank you to the 175 adults who volunteer in this program, and spend two hours a month with a 5th or 6th grade student.

About the event, Scott Elementary School Counselor Sharon Hardwick said it best:

"Today was fabulous. I got to witness 160 Temple kids get loved on by people in the community. I wish you could have seen the excitement in their eyes. I wish you could have heard the conversations. I wish you could experience lives being impacted... Wait you can. Be a Wildcat Mentor."
