Looking up at a set of banners draped from the rafters of Wildcat Gym on Thursday morning, Temple girls basketball coach Tamarah Sanders wondered if people knew just how deep the Tem-Cats’ successful roots run.
Some do. Some don’t. But Sanders is proud to share whenever given the chance. After all, it’s the tradition she learned as a Tem-Cats player two decades ago that she so eagerly wanted to pass on when she was hired at her alma mater in 2008.
The specific years honored high above the court that caught Sanders’ eyes are those with which she is quite familiar — a three-year, early-1990s run that included two regional tournament appearances, 87 wins and Temple’s 10th-year coach known then as Tamarah Woodson.
